Nicky Byrne

Nicholas Bernard James Adam Byrne Jr (aka Nicky Byrne), born 9 October 1978, is a singer-songwriter, radio and TV presenter and former footballer.

Nicky Byrne is among one of the fourteen celebrity contestant who will be taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing series 10.

Nicky Byrne will be dancing with professional dancer Karen Hauer.

Nicky is one quarter of Irish pop band Westlife which was managed by Louis Walsh,. Westlife sold over 45 million records worldwide and accumulated 14 number-one UK singles including, Flying without Wings, Unbreakable and Queen of My Heart.

Nicky played professional football and represented Republic of Ireland at several underage levels before his music career. Since then he has had a successful international radio and TV presenting career. Nicky was born in Dublin, Ireland and from a young age demonstrated skills as a talented goalkeeper. He signed for Leeds United when he was 15 years old, although he was released from his contract two years later.

Westlife performed, recorded music for over 14 years. The group had seven top-ten albums and recorded studio and live performances with Mariah Carey, Lulu and Diana Ross. Westlife also performed live duets with artists as diverse as Roy Orbison and Kevin Spacey.

Westlife, in 2011, announced that they will all be going their separate ways following a farewell tour in 2012.
