Victoria Louise Pendleton, MBE, born 24 September 1980, is a retired English track cyclist.
Victoria Pendleton is among one of the fourteen celebrity contestant who will be taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing series 10.
Victoria Pendleton will be dancing with professional dancer Brendon Cole.
Victoria Pendleton represented Great Britain and England in international competition, winning nine world titles including a record six in the individual sprint competition. Victoria is the reigning World Champion for the sprint, and a former Olympic, European and Commonwealth champion. In 2012 she won the gold medal in the keirin at the 2012 Summer Olympics, as well as silver in the individual sprint.
In the 2009 New Year Honours Victoria Pendleton was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) .
Victoria has a twin brother Alex James Pendleton, born in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England, to Max Pendleton, a keen cyclist and former British national grass-track cycling champion, and Pauline M Viney.
Victoria Pendleton is an Olympic Champion. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she won a gold medal in the Women’s Individual Sprint Event.
At London 2012 Olympic Games, Pendleton and Varnish broke the world record in the qualifying stages of the team sprint before being relegated in the semi-finals. Victoria Pendleton won a gold medal in the keirin event. She also won a silver medal at London 2012.
Victoria’s agent confirmed her appearance on Twitter, writing: “@v_pendleton IS doing Strictly – pretty exciting and no doubt she’ll work at it to become a very good dancer. That’s what athletes do.”
Victoria will bring her competitive sprit to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom. Strictly fans expect nothing less but glamour, glitter and Gold.
