Letitia started acting at an early age. Letitia and her older brother Stephen attended dance school and performed a dance act together on stage. She later attended the Italia Conti Theatre School at ten years old, and later the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone, London. Letitia was in that school for several years learning the skills of acting, singing and dancing.
Letitia’s first television appearance was in the BBC children's series Grange Hill, when she was just 11, playing a student named Lucinda in Grange Hill, in 1978. She took part at the age of twelve in the hit stage musical ‘Annie’ at London's Victoria Palace Theatre. She was in EastEnders from 1985–1995 and 2001–2004, and again from 2005–2006. Letitia was nominated for the best actress award in 2004 at the British Soap Awards, but lost out to Suranne Jones from Coronation Street.

Letitia was presented with the award for outstanding achievements at the 2005 Inside Soap awards, for her outstanding achievement as homage to her work in EastEnders, which she has been (on and off) for over 20 years, since the age of 17.
Letitia married media executive Jason Pethers in September 2002. Her close friend and EastEnders co-star, Susan Tully, was a bridesmaid at the wedding. The guests at the wedding were treated to transportation in old fashioned London buses, in true East End style. After five years of marriage, it was announced in 2007 that Letitia and Jason had separated. She will be dancing with Darren Bennett in Series 5.
