Aliona Vilani

Aliona Vilani is a Russian-Kazakhstani professional dancer and was born on 1 May 1984.

Vilani started learning ballet when she was five years old, and moved to Russia to learn ballroom dancing at age 11.

At age 13 Aliona Vilani moved to the United States and joined the Kaiser Dance Academy in Brooklyn, New York. In 2001 Aliona Vilani was part of the US Ballroom team for the National Dance Congress that won the Amateur Ballroom category.

Aliona Vilani first appeared on Strictly in 2009 when she was paired with Rav Wilding. The couple left the competition in week three .

In 2010, Aliona was partnered with The One Show presenter Matt Baker. The pair danced together exceptionally well however came second as they lost out to Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev.

In 2011, Aliona Vilani won series nine with Harry Judd. When Aliona first joined Strictly she thought the judges were shocked by some of her more modern, risqué choreography.
