Darcey Bussell

Darcey Andrea Bussell CBE was born on 27 April 1969 in London. She is a retired English ballerina and trained at the Arts Educational School and the Royal Ballet School, she was later employed by the Royal Ballet, where she was promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer and would become recognised as one of the greatest English ballerinas of all time.

In April 2012 BBC confirmed appointment of Darcey Bussell as one of the Strictly Come Dancing judges. She replaced former judge Alesha Dixon.

Darcey Bussell is no stranger to the Strictly Come Dancing show having appeared as a guest judge on the series in 2009 during which she and Ian Waite performed a jive together.

Darcey Bussell will join the panel to sit alongside Head Judge Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.

Strictly Come Dancing Official blog quoted Darcey: “I had such a lovely experience in 2009 when I was a guest judge, that coming on board now feels very natural. Strictly combines quality dance and great entertainment, which is such a positive for everybody involved. I am very excited and really looking forward to being part of the Strictly team.”
