Strictly Come Dancing Week 1 Series 10, 2012

Six celebrities with their dance partners performed tonight. They danced a waltz or a cha cha cha in the first week.

The first couple to take to the floor was Fern Britton and Artem Chigvintsev. They performed a cha cha cha. They received 19 points from the judges; Craig scoring them lowest of 4 points.

Len said “little bit more good than bad” about their dance. Critical Craig commented “First of all you need to straighten your knees and legs….”

The second couple to take the floor was Nicky Byrne with professional dancer Karen Hauer. They performed a waltz. They received 17 points from the judges. Bruno said Nicky had “terrible posture”. Darcey noted that Nicky’s strength as his musicality.

The third couple to take to the floor was Michael Vaughan dancing with professional dancer Natalie Lowe. They performed a waltz. Judges scored them a total of 20 points. Craig noticed “some timing issues… posture biggest problem…”

Bruno – 4

The fourth couple to take to the floor was Victoria Pendleton & Brendon Cole. They performed a cha cha cha. They scored the lowest of the night, 16 points.

The new judge Darcey said to Victoria, “I felt for you…”.  Len observed that Victoria was like ridding a “… a bike without a stabilizer … you got potentials”. Bruno said “You know you messed it up so much, … Get back on the bike”.

Len – 5
Bruno – 4
Total from the judges: 16 points

The fifth couple to take to the floor was Colin Salmon dancing with professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff. They performed a cha cha cha. They scored the second highest of the night, 23 points from the judges.

Head judge Len Goodman said “Best cha cha cha of the night”.

Total from the judges: 23

The sixth couple to take the floor was Denise van Outen dancing with professional dancer James Jordan. They performed a waltz . They received the highest score for the night 25 from the judges.  The critical judge Craig was pleased and said “save the best till last…”. The head judge Len Goodman observed “style with a smile… high expectations…” Len also said the “whole package great”.

Len – 6

Total from the judges: 25

The lowest scoring and most disappointing dance of the night was performed by Victoria & Brendon, while Denise and James wowed the audience and received a standing ovation for their highest scoring dance with 25 points.
