Tuffers is bowled out of Strictly Come Dancing!

It was the ninth week of Strictly Come Dancing. Bruce Forsythe was feeling a bit under the weather so Ronnie Corbett took his place to present the introduction to the show with Tess Daly. Claudia Winkleman was behind the stage interviewing the dancers after their dance.

The first couple to dance was Phil Tuffnell and partner Katya Virshilas. They danced the American Smooth and scored 7 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 31.
Craig said, “I was a little bit and only marginally disappoint, it was cool but not so confident.”
Len said, “I wasn’t disappointed at all. I can see a change of attitude, it was more determined.”

The second couple to dance was Ricky Whittle and partner Natalie Lowe. They danced the Jive and scored 8 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 35.
Alisha said, “That was a fast jive. You were looking down a bit, but that was so fun so fast, it was pretty amazing.”
Bruno said, “Talk about a tight packet full of power. You always go for it. Because of that power and energy, your feet went wrong sometimes, you have to point your feet always.”

The third couple to dance was Ricky Groves and his partner Erin Boag. They danced the Viennese Walt and scored 7 + 8 + 7 + 7 = 29.
Craig said, “I really felt as though I couldn’t relax for one moment. I thought you coped very well, you do need to smooth out your rise and fall.”
Alisha said, “I’ve seen a real improvement this week. You should be proud of yourself.”

The couple to dance next was Chris Hollins and Orla Jordan. They danced the Paso Doble and scored 6 + 8 + 9 + 7 = 30.
Alisha said, “I love you too, Orla you’re doing a great job. I would’ve liked to see a little bit more shape in your body, but that was brilliant.”
Craig said, “I feel it had danger and aggression, but you forgot to dance. It lacked the aggression that a matador should have.”

Next up on the dance floor were Laila Rouass and partner Anton Du Beke. They danced the Rumba and scored 3 + 7 + 6 + 6 = 22.
Alisha said, “I’m so sorry, you look absolutely beautiful tonight.”
Bruno said, “It could have been something beautiful. I have to comment on what I saw.”

The couple to dance next was Natalie Cassidy and Vincent Simone. They danced the Foxtrot and scored 8 + 9 + 9 + 8 = 34.
Bruno said, “Look at you Natalie gone all posh. I can see you were really trying to work on your body. Sometimes it lacked a little bit of freedom.”
Len said, “That was quality right up my street. Your best dance so far as far as I’m concerned.”

The couple to dance next was Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna. They danced the Cha cha cha and scored 9 + 8 + 9 + 9 = 35.
Craig said, “I thought it was a difficult job for Brian. That music for me wasn’t really Cha cha cha. A little shame your kick was a bit early.”

Next professional dancers Brian Fortuna and Kristina Rihanoff performed a Bolero dance. This was the first time that this dance has been performed on this show. Next there was a group dance from James Jordan and Kristina Rihanoff, Matthew Cutler and Aliona Vilani and Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova. Then there was a special performance from the Jersey Boys.

The two couples left in the dance off were Phil Tuffnell and partner Katya Virshilas and Ricky Groves and partner Erin Boag. Judge Craig saved Ricky and Erin, Alisha saved Phil and Katya, Bruno saved Phil and Katya. Then it was two one for Phil and Katya but as head judge, Len had the casting vote and he decided to save Ricky and Erin.

So Phil Tuffnell and partner Katya Virshilas were out of Strictly Come Dancing.
