Rumba is a dance which is related to the rumba type of Afro-Cuban music. There are several styles of dances called Rumba. The rumba originated around the 16th century. The native Rumba folk dance is very sexual and extremely fast with a lot of hip movements. On the part of the man there is an aggressive attitude and a defensive attitude on the part of the woman.

Rumba is usually considered by dancers as being the most erotic and sensual Latin dance, because of its slow rhythm and the hip movement.

Rumba originates from two sources: one Spanish and the other African. Although it grew mainly in Cuba, there were similar dances that came from other Caribbean islands and in Latin America generally.
